London 2012: a fragment

Was at the women’s diving at the Olympics yesterday, thanks to a friend who got lucky with tickets. Quite fun to watch. The Aquatics building is impressive and also had the advantage (on a showery day) of being the warmest stadium. China won the gold, with US second and Canada 3rd. The atmosphere was good and the park areas look really lovely. It’s great that the park will still be there to enjoy once all the razzamatazz has moved on.

Here’s some pics and then a few tips if you’re wondering what you can bring with you on the day…

Tips if you are going to the Olympics:

It’s not true you cannot bring your own food but security do make you tip out liquids.

If you bring an empty bottle inside with you can top up (free) at designated drinking water points.

The non-branded or generic bar (due to sponsorship rules) is a bit challenging. No 1 fruit cup = Pimms No 1, as an example. And might be more fun than mystery lager.

If travelling from North London, bear in mind the overground train goes from Camden, Highbury & Islington, Dalston and  Hackney to Stratford. It may well be less busy than the underground. It is included on the travel ticket you get with your  Olympics tickets.

    • Hello Claudia – actually was thinking of you when we got to our seats, and all the poolside hours you have put in over the years. Have you or your boys swum there then? The pool looks so LONG compared to what often passes for a length in a smaller pool….
