At Broken Social Scene in Kentish Town last night, the singer said he’d thought about replacing Texaco with BP in his evil petrol-mongerers song, but decided against. (Largely because it would have messed up the rhythm was my guess – but his thought remained, hanging over the audience who were holding up their phones to pick up the glow from the stage). What will we do when there’s no plastic because all the oil has been used  or wasted? How will we replace the plastic that forms the shells of our computers, our phones, our other gadgets and toys?
